We have five veterinarians to see patients,
consult with pet owners, and perform medical and surgical procedures. |
Dr. Jeff Allen is originally from Ontario and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph in 1978. He has been part of the practice since 1988 and has had great influence in keeping the Veterinary Housecall Service available to our clients. He is on the road (on housecalls) 2 days a week (presently Tuesdays & Thursdays), and available in the hospital for surgeries and appointments during the remainder.
In 2000, Dr. Allen completed the veterinary acupunture course given by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and has been using this as an additional treatment option at Bellevue and on housecalls since that time. |
Dr. Shelagh Hislop has been here since 1992 after her graduation from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. She is originally from Calgary, Alberta. Her love for animals, people, and science are what drew her to veterinary medicine as a career. Shelagh is seeing patients at the clinic 3-4 days/week while raising two children, and is also single-handedly responsible for the (novice) development and updating of this web site. |
Dr. Kevin Keller has been at the Bellevue practice since spring of 1997. Previous to that he was at a veterinary practice in Campbell River, and an emergency clinic in Ontario. He is originally from Queenston, Ontario (near Niagara Falls) and attended the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, graduating in 1992.
In 2000, Dr. Keller completed a comprehensive course in animal chiropractic through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association and is presently a member of the AVCA's board of directors. He is available at the clinic 2-3 days a week. |
Dr. Jeff Dahl started working with us in May 2000 immediately after his graduation from Western College of Veterinary Medicine, and is now well established in our clinic and our community. Jeff originates from the Victoria area and was glad to return to the Island from his veterinary training in Saskatoon where he worked 2 summers in the department of radiology. We're sure he was born with veterinary medicine in his genes because both of his parents are veterinarians too! |
Dr. Natacha Lesage started her work with us in mid-March 2006. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 2002. Prior to her work here, she had practiced veterinary medicine in Oregon and also in England, as she and her husband travelled in Europe. Dr. Lesage has a very gentle nature and thus has a calming influence on our four-legged patients. Natacha has returned from maternity leave in August 2011. Congratulations Natacha and Dave on baby(boy)#2! |
Dr. Lorena Zanette works as a locum for our clinic whenever we're short-handed on our veterinary staff. She comes to us from Pt. Alberni, but has practiced as a veterinarian for many years in Europe (after growing up here on the Island -- and graduating from WCVM in Saskatoon in 1993 with her veterinary degree.) |
Dr. Amanda Ahokas (nee Campbell) was with us since April 2008. Dr. Ahokas was a wonderful part of our veterinary team, but her husband found work in Victoria and she moved to follow him in July 2011. We will try to stay in touch but we'll miss her very much! |
