The staff behind the scenes at the clinic are the technical assistants. These people look after the animals, through surgeries, treatments, and ongoing hospitalization during illness. They also help to set up for and assist the veterinarians in various procedures, surgeries, and laboratory testing.
- Elka was born and raised in this area surrounded by family animals (livestock & various pets). Due to her vast experience with animals and her eagerness to learn, she has learned the position of "technician" while on the job. Elka has worked at Bellevue since 1992. Since that time, she has been in charge of many changes that have taken place in the clinic. She loves a challenge and always puts the patients first.
- Jennifer is a registered animal health technician. She graduated from the 2-year Animal Health Technology Program at Olds College (Alberta) in June 2002. She had previously worked and learned the ropes at our clinic as a volunteer during her free time during high school. We're thrilled that she wanted to come back and work with us after getting her education in Alberta. She is a great asset to our team.
- Karli is a great help in the technical end of the practice as well as on reception. She has learned her role on the job. Her obvious love of animals is evidenced by her own household -- 3 cats & 5 dogs plus a horse and there are more each day it seems!
- Kelly is our long term student. She works both in the reception area and in the back of the clinic. During the school year, she's working with us on weekends, but she works additional hours with us during the summer when she can.
- Amber is our newest technician. She graduated from Olds College in Alberta in the spring of 2006. We're thrilled to have her updated technical skills added to our staff!
- Emma has just joined our staff this spring. She came in to volunteer and get some experience with this type of work for a course she plans to take in the fall -- and she ended up being hired. (She's still going to take that course though!) She's very friendly and helpful and she's learning the ropes quickly.
